Cairns is a delight for accompanying partners.!

Cairns is a fabulous location for a short break in August! The Accompanying Partners committee has created an interesting program to introduce Accompanying Partners to our beautiful area and to enable people to meet one another.

The program will give guests a flavour of the area to enable them to explore further with their partners.

The program will be subject to limited numbers so book early to avoid
disappointment!

SKYRAIL, Cairns Vintage Reef Cruises

Sunday 26 August 6 -8pm

We look forward to meeting you at the Welcome Function in the Trade Exhibition area in the Convention Centre from 6pm on Sunday 26 August. Wear your loudest tropical shirt! Prizes for the loudest!

Dress code: Tropical casual. This event is included in your registration.

Monday 27th August 2007 11am – 2.30pm “Welcome to Cairns”

An introduction to the City by coach to familiarise and help to orientate guests.
The tour provides an opportunity to meet other participants or renew old friendships.
Lunch at the Botanical Gardens, Collins Avenue, will include time to visit the spectacular Botanical Gardens recognised throughout Australia for their outstanding collection of plants.
The Tour will end with drops at a Central Shopping Centre in the CBD or at individual hotels.

Cost: $25.00 including light lunch.

Monday Evening Dinner:
Join the delegates at the Tjapukai Cultural Park for a spectacular and entertaining dinner.

Dress Code - Smart casual. Flat shoes recommended

Tuesday 28th August 2007

Choose from either:

Option 1. Tour to Port Douglas:

Port Douglas View
Tour to Port Douglas, including a visit to the famous lookout over the Coral Sea and free time in the charming town for shopping or the beach. Have lunch with the Lorikeets at the much acclaimed
Rainforest Habitat incorporating a guided tour through the wetlands, rainforest and grassland
environments. Get up close and personal with Australian wildlife including koalas and tropical birds.

Cost: $45.00 includes entrance to Rainforest habitat and lunch.

Option 2. Tour to Kuranda (25km)

Ulysses Butterfly
Coach trip to Kuranda, the picturesque village surrounded by the World Heritage rainforest. The village offers numerous attractions to choose from at your leisure. It is renowned for its market lifestyle with shops and markets selling aboriginal artefacts and many exotically handcrafted goods. The village is the centre for a number of nature based tourism activities including informal relaxing rainforest walks, the Barron Falls, riverboat on the Barron River and butterfly house.
The town has retained a number of its historic buildings and tastefully utilised them for a range of
restaurants and cafes. Customise your own itinerary for the day. Guests will be free to make their own arrangements for lunch.

Cost: $15.00 includes return coach to Kuranda.

Both options leave at 10am and return to Cairns at 4pm


Tuesday Evening
Join the delegates for an informal Happy Hour at the Cairns Esplanade for canapés and drinks.

Dress code: Smart casual.

Wednesday 29th August 2007

Choose from either:

Option 1. Calm Water Habitat Cruise and Crocodile Farm tour
Enjoy a calm water cruise along the picturesque Trinity Inlet, conveniently departing from the Reef Terminal in the CBD. Discover the secrets of this unique and special mangrove lined waterway that is home to a rich and diverse array of wildlife, including crocodiles, beautiful native birds and over 70 species of fish. Enjoy crocodile spotting from the safety of the boat MV Habitat Explorer, a modern air conditioned catamaran and follow this by a visit to a Crocodile Farm including an informative commentary about the reptiles. Return to the centre of the City for lunch passing through sugar cane country by coach on the way . A relaxing and informative trip.

Cost: $70.00 - Cruise, farm tour and lunch.
Meet at 9am return for lunch at 12.30pm.


Option 2. Paradise Palms for a 9 hole Golf Ambrose competition.
Golf in the Tropics
* Accompanying partners only.
Play a nine-hole competition with other Accompanying Partners at this beautifully appointed golf Course only 20 minutes from Cairns. All levels of player are welcome. Enjoy the luscious surroundings at the base of
rainforest clad mountains. The course is consistently ranked as one of Australia’s best courses which provides a challenge for golfers of all standards. Play golf or join us to enjoy the ambience of this special venue. Watch the proceedings or play tennis or take a swim. Lunch is provided at the Queensland style clubhouse with great views.

Cost: $105.00 - Club hire, playing fees and lunch.
Cost: $35.00 - Transport and lunch only.

Return to Cairns 3.30pm
Wednesday Evening
Enjoy the climax of the social program for the Grand Conference Dinner at the Convention Centre. This event is included in your registration. Dress code: Lounge suit or jacket and tie for men and after five wear for the ladies.

General

In addition, keep fit stretching activity for accompanying partners and delegates will be arranged on the Esplanade at 7am

Festival Cairns

Cairns and Far North Queensland is the perfect location for accompanying partners and for family visits. The timing of the
Conference is fortunate to enable visitors to take advantage of Festival Cairns, a program of activities to showcase the region.
Festival Cairns provides three action packed weeks of events throughout the City. Over 40 events from the intimate to the big and bold will provide something for everyone, including a number of family events including theatre, musical entertainment,
circus and sport. The program is currently being finalised and can be viewed on www.festivalcairns.com.au

Come early to the Conference to take advantage of the opportunity to attend the ‘Food, Wine and all that jazz” on Saturday 25th August or stay a while for events occurring on 1st September with “Jazz Under the Stars” and celebrate Father’s Day on 2nd
September at the “Carnival on Collins”.
