Welcome to Tropical Far North Queensland!
Meet with new colleagues or old friends for this informal introduction to the 14th International Public Works Conference. The Mayor will provide the official welcome and open the Trade Exhibition. Delegates, speakers, registered accompanying partners and exhibitors all welcome. Delegates are encouraged to register before the event at the Cairns Convention Centre. Enjoy the relaxed atmosphere of this tropical location. Wear your loudest tropical shirt to be in the running for a prize.

Transport will be available from key CBD hotels to whisk you away to an unforgettable evening. Enjoy a Lakeside Aboriginal celebration of music chanting and dance which culminates in a magical fire making ceremony. Follow the flame lit pathway to a fairy lit marquee at the base of the rainforest. Experience a cultural dance show interspersed throughout a three course meal of Australian cuisine. Dance the night away to the Swinging Alley Cats. Transport will return to Cairns CBD hotels as required from 10pm.

A short informal event designed to encourage further networking. This location enables the Conference Chairman to showcase the esplanade lagoon project which was
recognised through the 2005 National Local Government Engineering Medal. The project is widely enjoyed by local people and visitors alike and has added a new dimension to the City landscape and infrastructure.

Light canapes and drinks will be provided. The rest of the night is at delegate’s leisure.

The Grand Dinner is the climax of the Social program. This themed event will reflect the Barrier Reef and is guaranteed to be an evening not to be missed! Guests will enjoy the sumptuous food and wine and be entertained by well known entertainers, comedian Rod Quantock and popular band the Black Sorrows.

Pre dinner drinks in the foyer from 6.45pm.
